Be careful with anyone asking for money
A person claiming to have your dog should be able to provide current, convincing evidence. Do not send deposits, gift cards, cryptocurrency or “release fees” to an unverified stranger.
Never share verification codes
We do not need your social-media login, banking password or a code sent to your phone to pass on a sighting. Enter account verification codes only in the official sign-up or sign-in screen, and never send them to another person.
Ask for a location and recent evidence
A clear, recent photo or video and specific details can help you assess a claim. A sighting is a lead, not proof. Use a trusted local contact if you need help checking it.
Keep people and dogs safe
Do not chase a frightened dog, trespass or meet a stranger somewhere unsafe. For immediate danger or a suspected crime, contact the appropriate local authority.
